Need a Columbus Forecast?
May I suggest going to OSU's Weather Server? Each day, Atmospheric Science and meteorologically inclined geography students publish a forecast for Columbus. It's kind of like the Philcast... only with several other people participating.
Columbus Weather
I have always been fascinated by the weather and had the opportunity to intern with the National Weather Service in 2002 and work at AccuWeather between 2003 and 2005. Both of these experiences were incredibly rewarding. While I have moved on to other things, I still continue to forecast and study the weather. The old "Philcast" site is gone, but I have included some helpful links below. This site will continue to automatically collect climate data and observations for Columbus, as it has for the past two years.
Current Observations at Port Columbus as of 1:51 A.M.
- Skies were Overcast
- The Temperature was 51.8 °F.
- Winds were calm.
- The Barometric Pressure was 29.83 inches and falling.
- Today's Sunrise is at 6:52 A.M. and the sunset is at 6:34 P.M.
Since September 2006, I have kept detailed climate records for the Port Columbus International Airport that reflect the maximum, minimum and the time of each for every day. Additionally, you can find snowfall, precipitation, and normals data here.
This is a great weather resource (that happens to be under my care). You can get great satellite, radar, and observation data at this site. Detailed models and more are on their way!
Are the next few days, weeks, or months supposed to be warmer or colder than normal? Get your questions answered here with these excellent, easy-to-read analyses.
This tool is pretty amazing. Turn Google Earth into a radar. You can see where thunderstorms or snow squalls are located at the level of a city block. This tool is definitely a personal favorite.
Big Blizzard Loop (19.8 mb) | Small Blizzard Loop (10.9mb).
Because this was so popular, I'm going to leave it online. These are radar loops that I created after the March 2008 blizzard in Columbus, Ohio. Just over 20" was reported at the airport over the two day period. The heaviest snow fell right along and just to the east of the I-71 cooridor. Click below for direct stream.
