We’ll be putting Charlotte’s pictures from now on under “Gallery Phil.” Just click here. (Moving them to a place better designed to show photographs)
- Phil and Julie.
Pictures from Day 1: 4/18/2009
Here’s a few pictures from Charlotte’s first full day! We’re both doing well, still a little sleepy. Charlotte is getting plenty of sleep, visitors and food! (click on images for full size).
Charlotte Ruth is here! She weighed 8 lbs 14 oz (!) and was born at almost exactly 3:15 P.M. Julie did absolutely amazing. We’ll get more pictures up soon. She’s in triage right now as a precaution. (Click on Image for a full size.)

Julie and I made it through the night, and even managed an hour of sleep! It’s hard to believe we’ve already been here 14 hours; the time seems to go by very quickly for both of us even though there’s a clock constantly in our face. Julie has done extremely well — and of course, I wouldn’t be writing this unless Julie wasn’t completely comfortable. We went through several hours of contractions before electing for an epidural. In the words of Julie, “I can’t describe the difference.” Looks like she’ll be finally be able to get some much needed rest.
10:00 P.M., 4/16: All checked in
We expected a hectic departure from our house, flying 75 mph up SR-315 to the hospital. Instead, we enjoyed our “last” day dining al fresco at P.F. Chang’s followed by dinner with Julie’s parents at Grandview Cafe.
Once we got home, and after some leisurely conversation with the neighbors, we headed to the hospital. So goes the induction and perhaps the small array of advantages of Charlotte being fashionably late (not to mention the slew of construction projects that we semi-completed at our house). Check-in was quiet and we got the coveted room with a bathtub that Julie probably won’t get to use. Comfy room - nice people. Chloe and Oscar at Grandma and Grandpa’s, probably getting spoiled. More later… next major progress check from the doctors is at 1:00 AM.
